FAQ about Højeruplund and Højerup Old Church

No, it is free to visit the area around Højeruplund, Stevns Klint and the church ruins. You only pay for parking and any food and drink at the Traktørstedet (cafe/restaurant).

Yes, it is free to visit the church. Højerup old church is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Easter to October 31st and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM from November 1st to Easter.

The area around Højeruplund is, however, open all year round, so you can always enjoy the view of Stevns Klint – even outside of the season. during the winter period, some facilities such as toilets and refreshment stands may have limited opening hours.

Yes, near Højerup you can see the famous fish clay layer, which marks the transition between the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods – the time when the dinosaurs died out. The layer can be clearly seen in the cliff below the church and is one of the main reasons why Stevns Klint is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Yes – there is parking at Højeruplund for DKK 50 per day, and payment is made via the payment machine on the site.

For motorhomes wishing to park between 24:00 and 08:00, a special permit is required – this permit is purchased from the catering establishment for DKK 100 and must be placed clearly visible in the vehicle.

At Højeruplund you will find public toilets, a large car park, and Traktørstedet Højeruplund, which serves food and drinks. During the summer months, there is also a small ice cream kiosk open during the season.

The area is partially accessible for people with mobility issues, and dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead.

You are welcome to enjoy your packed lunch at the tables and benches in the area – just remember to take your rubbish with you.

From Højeruplund you can easily visit several of Stevns Klint's greatest experiences. To the south lies Stevns Klint Experience in Boesdal Limestone Quarry with exhibitions, a café, and year-round activities. To the north, you can follow the Tramp Trail to Stevns Lighthouse, where you can ascend the lighthouse and experience a magnificent view of the cliff. Here you will also find a changing exhibition and a small shop, which is open during the season.

Both locations are only a few kilometres from Højeruplund and can be reached by car or on foot.

Most visitors spend 1–2 hours in the area, but many choose to stay longer to enjoy the views, dine at the refreshment area, or walk along the Tramp Trail.

No, drone flying is generally not permitted at Højeruplund and Stevns Klint for the sake of nature and the nesting birds in the area.

If you wish to fly a drone, you must apply for permission from Stevns Municipality.
